About The/Nudge:

The/Nudge is an action institute building resilient livelihoods to alleviate poverty. We work with women, farmers, tribals, and youth across rural development, agriculture, skilling, and economic inclusion, in partnership with 15+ central and state governments.

Our economic inclusion journey towards serving 25 million Indians spans 10 states and currently reaches over 1.5 million people. Through our incubator, accelerator, and grand challenges, we have supported 200+ social entrepreneurs, including Forbes 30 Under 30 honorees, Earthshot Prize winners, and nationally recognized changemakers.

Founded with the support of 130+ eminent philanthropists, 40+ corporates, and 15+ foundations, The/Nudge is working towards a poverty-free India, within our lifetime.

What are we solving for?

  • We are solving for households in poverty who are also financially and socially vulnerable through a targeted, multi-faceted, and sequenced model called the graduation approach, which has demonstrated that we can durably pull households out of poverty.
  • At The/Nudge Institute, we have been piloting this program for the past 3 years and are now scaling it across multiple states. Our purpose is to enable the most excluded individuals to become contributing members of the economy. We will
  • Enable government to adopt by providing research, design, and implementation support
  • Continue to iterate on the program design to create impact at scale through our own implementations
  • Support more NGOs in adopting graduation approach by offering technical expertise and capacity building
  • Build evidence on graduation approach to nudge governments to adopt at-scale
  • Develop technology solutions that enable NGOs and governments to adopt and implement the program at scale & with quality

About the role:

This is a high-ownership, hands-on role for someone who thrives at the intersection of product thinking, field research, and execution. You will be responsible for designing and running pilots within the Economic Inclusion Program (EIP) — from defining the hypothesis and research approach, to working with Operations teams on the ground to implement and iterate. Think of this as a "new experiments" function within a high-stakes social program.
This role is well-suited for someone from management consulting, or a startup background with experience in launching and running new initiatives.

What will you do?

  • Own end-to-end pilot design for EIP — define the problem, hypothesis, intervention design, and success metrics
  • Conduct field research and stakeholder interviews to deeply understand ground realities before and during pilots
  • Collaborate closely with the Operations team to plan and execute pilots in program states
  • Translate field learnings into structured insights and iterate on program design rapidly
  • Work with Operations, Impact and Strategy teams to embed evidence from pilots into broader program decisions
  • Develop frameworks and playbooks that allow successful pilots to be adopted at scale
  • Communicate findings clearly to internal leadership and external stakeholders

Who are we looking for in this role?

  • 7+ years of work experience in management consulting, product management, or a new initiatives/experiments function at a startup
  • Strong structured thinking and problem-solving skills, you can break down ambiguous problems and design rigorous pilots
  • Comfort with both quantitative and qualitative research methods; familiarity with data tools (SQL, Excel, or equivalent) is a plus
  • Willingness and enthusiasm to spend significant time in the field — rural areas, with participants and frontline staff
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to work across Operations, Impact, and Leadership teams
  • Ability to move fast, learn from failure, and iterate without losing sight of rigor
  • Passion for solving large-scale social problems
  • Written and spoken fluency in Hindi and English
